I have been a long time resident of Cecil County Maryland. I love this area and spend most of my free time birding it. My Birding and photography has primarily been in Maryland, but I still work my way into Delaware from time to time. I started birding when I was around the age of 12. That would have been around 1978. Fueled by my parents, they always encouraged me to keep learning and stay outside. So I spent most of my teen years, not chasing girls, but chasing Hawks and Warblers. It did help too that I had the most wonderful mentor anyone could ever ask for. I am indebted to him for the rest of my life for all the knowledge of birding and life advice that he passed on to me. He guided me in the right direction and kept me out of trouble on the weekends. Well, that is until I met my wife. I left the nest on that one and started my own nest. My nest currently has 2 fledglings.
is my daughter who is going to fly at any moment. She just graduated from High School and has started her first year in College. She is doing her major in Graphic Art and Design. Yep, another photographer.
Next is 14 year old . Need I say more? Did I mention he is 14? He is a active birder and is getting better all the time. This seems to be something he has taken an interest in over the past couple of years on his own. So I will keep feeding him information when he asks for it, but the girls seem to be getting his attention more than the Mourning Warbler that was in our back yard this spring. I think there is still a chance though. He took an awesome photo of a Red-breasted Nuthatch.
Last there is my lovely wife . If we were birds, we would be Phalarope. The female is much better looking than the male in this relationship. I can still hear my friend Parke's voice. He would say I was a Red necked Phalarope. Mary and I have been married for almost 21 years now and she is what most would call a 'non-birder'. I am fortunate enough that she tolerates my birding obsession.
I started my other obsession of Photography about 3 years ago, which is 2004. So the combination of my birding skills and my newly found photography skills has driven me to want to show off my work. A lot of people have said to me that I need to show it, so here it is. I would like to thank Andy Mussaw for designing and setting up the web site. He did a great job, and I am so thankful. Now it is still work in progress, but it is getting there.
Happy Birding, and I look forward to seeing all of you out and about.
